Morning
After breakfast, connect with your own guide and depart to see the most notable landmarks of Phnom Penh via tuk-tuk and Cyclo, the city’s original three-wheeled bicycle taxi that offers an exciting way to see this vibrant city.
The first destination is the Pshar Kandal, the oldest market in Phnom Penh, where you can savor delectable local fare like fried noodles, grilled meat with papaya salad, noodle soup, and sweet rice and coconut pastries.
After that, take a stroll around the French Quarter to see the colonial-era buildings of Phnom Penh. Admire the colonial-era train station’s Belle Epoque and Art Deco architecture as well as the city’s tallest religious building, Wat Phnom, a Buddhist temple.
Proceed to the Royal Palace Compound, which was constructed in 1866 by King Norodom’s predecessors. This is the most noticeable feature and one of the most striking multicolored Khmer-style palaces.
The Silver Pagoda, also known as the Emerald Buddha temple, is located next to the Royal Palace. Inside, there are several Buddha statues adorned with diamonds, emeralds, gold, and silver. After visiting, you can take a tuk-tuk back to your accommodation to rest from the midday heat.
Afternoon
Explore the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which is also known as Prison S21. Learn about Cambodia’s dark past with English commentary. The prison’s four buildings house numerous exhibits. You’re likely to meet people who have lost family members during that time and are willing to discuss it with you.
See a video on the Khmer Rouge rule then drive 40 minutes to the Killing Fields after leaving the museum. More than two million people died as a result of Pol Pot’s dictatorship. You will have around one hour and fifteen minutes to tour the location. There is a map of the fields and a 15-language audio tour available.
Evening
Experience a traditional Khmer performance at the Plae Pakka Theater presented by the Cambodian Living Arts Association. After that, our driver and guide will drop you off at your hotel or another preferred place after the event.
