Morning
After checking out, take a quick flight to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Upon arrival at Wattay Airport, your group will be taken to a hotel in the city center for check-in.
Vientiane is known for its relaxed vibe, tree-lined boulevards, fascinating temples, and vibrant markets, blending Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and French influences.
Afternoon
Start your tour of Vientiane by visiting the Patuxai Monument, also known as Anousavari, and taking in the cityscape from the summit. Then, head to the summit of Lan Xang Avenue, which is considered the Lao capital’s Champs Elysees, to see Vientiane’s own Arc de Triomphe.
Next, visit Vat Sisaket. It is the only temple that survived the 1828 Siamese invasion. Within its walls are hundreds of Buddha sculptures.
Head to Wat Prakeo, a religious museum exhibiting Lao and Khmer artwork. It once housed the “Emerald Buddha,” now in the Royal Palace in Bangkok. Then admire Pha That Luang, Laos’ significant golden stupa.
Don’t miss the COPE Visitor Center in Vientiane. This non-profit organization supports people in Laos by providing prosthetic limbs, mobility aids, and rehabilitation. The center aims to raise awareness about these issues and advocate against cluster bombs. A visit will leave a lasting impact on your heart and mind.
